Crane Service and On-Site Crane Repair
Boom drifting, outriggers not holding, weak lifting or a crane that will not start? Share the crane type, fault symptoms and site location so suitable repair support can be arranged.
Do not start by guessing which part has failed
A crane can feel weak because of a hydraulic leak, restricted oil flow, pump wear or loss of engine power. Those faults may look similar to the operator, but they do not need the same repair.
Record what changed, when it happens and whether the problem appears cold or after the machine warms up. If there is uncontrolled boom movement, a damaged wire rope, an outrigger that will not hold or a structural concern, stop lifting and arrange an inspection.
Mech On Site helps coordinate crane inspection, breakdown diagnosis and on-site crane repair based on the machine, fault and service availability in your location.
When should you request crane repair service?
These symptoms need diagnosis before the crane goes back under load.
Boom drifts or will not hold
A boom that drops after the control is released may involve cylinder sealing, a control valve or another hydraulic fault. Stop lifting until the cause is checked.
Crane feels weak under load
Low hydraulic pressure, pump wear, leakage or loss of engine power can all reduce lifting performance. Repeatedly attempting the same lift can make the fault harder to assess safely.
Outriggers will not extend or hold
Look for visible leakage, uneven movement or an outrigger that settles after setup. The crane should not return to lifting work until the stabilising system is inspected.
Slow slew, winch or hoist movement
Slow movement, unusual noise or jerking can point towards hydraulic, braking, electrical or mechanical problems. Note whether it changes after the oil warms up.
Crane service for machines working on Indian sites
The exact support depends on the crane configuration, fault, technician availability and parts required.
Hydra and pick-and-carry cranes
Support for hydraulic leakage, steering faults, boom movement, stabiliser problems, starting trouble and weak lifting.
Mobile and telescopic cranes
Diagnosis covering telescopic-boom functions, cylinders, outriggers, winches, slew systems, engines and electrical controls.
Crawler and heavy-lifting cranes
On-site checks for travel systems, hydraulics, boom and winch operation, engine faults and planned maintenance requirements.
Tower and truck-mounted cranes
Inspection support for hoisting, slewing, brakes, limit switches, PTO systems, hydraulics and intermittent electrical faults.
What to send with a crane service request
Better information helps identify the right mechanic, tools and possible parts before anyone travels to the site.
- Crane type, make and model
- Exact site location or PIN code
- What the operator saw, heard or felt
- Any warning code, oil leak or overheating
- Clear photos or a short fault video
- Recent repair or service history, if available
What happens after you report the fault?
First, the crane details and symptoms are reviewed. Photos or a short video can help separate a hydraulic problem from an engine, electrical or lifting-system fault.
Next, support depends on the diagnosis, site location, technician availability and whether specialist tools or parts are needed. Some faults can be handled at site. Others need further testing before a repair decision is made.
Ask for the suspected cause and repair scope before approving major parts. A pressure complaint alone is not proof that the pump needs replacement.

Crane stopped at site?
Send the crane model, fault symptoms and site location. That is enough to start deciding what kind of inspection or repair support is required.
